At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, the government approved the draft amendments to the Judicial Code and related laws—and which envisage the creation of the Civil and Administrative Chambers, with two independent and separate specializations, with the abolition of the Civil and Administrative Chamber of the Court of Cassation of Armenia.
The reasoning of the decision states that the establishment of specialized courts stems from the requirement to administer proper justice in public relations, and in this case, the probability of judicial error will be less.
Also, the adoption of these drafts is expected to ensure the conduct of administrative proceedings at the Court of Cassation through a specialized administrative chamber, as well as to enable the Supreme Judicial Council to replenish through more flexible mechanisms the lists of candidates for judges and candidates for promotion.
With this change, an additional allocation of about 34.9 million drams (approx. US$73,000) per year is expected from the state budget.
