South Sudan will join the United Nations on Wednesday to become the 193 member of the organisation.
The Security Council on Wednesday recommended to the General Assembly that the Republic of South Sudan be admitted to membership in UN, organization’s website reports.
The Council’s decision was contained in a resolution that it adopted without a vote, on the recommendation of its Committee on the Admission of New Members, which reviewed the application for membership submitted by the President of South Sudan.
