In the northeastern part of India, mainly in the state of Assam, the number of flood victims has reached 4,228,100 people. This was reported in a statement issued by the Disaster Management Division.

Prior to that, the local authorities had reported 3.1 million victims.

According to the regional staff of the northeastern Indian states, the death toll has reached 71. The day before, 63 casualties were reported.

According to meteorologists, heavy monsoon rains in the northeastern Indian states are likely to continue for the next 48 hours, after which the intensity of precipitation is expected to decrease.
