Since yesterday, a group of truck drivers continue to keep the Sisian motorway closed in Syunik Province of Armenia.

These truckers complain about the scales that are placed on Armenia’s motorways—and which were installed in the aforesaid motorway a few days ago. If the load of the trucks is more than the specified amount, then their drivers are fined.

Earlier, the truck drivers had blocked the aforesaid motorway—and with the same complaint. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan, who was on a working visit to Syunik Province at the time, had met with these truckers, and he was presented a four-point proposal to resolve the matter.

On May 17, the Urban Development, Technical Standards and Fire Safety Inspectorate had informed that the maximum permissible mass of vehicles, or the load on one axle, as well as the maximum dimensions of large rims have changed in Armenia.
