YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: In the near future, interesting developments are expected in the criminal case initiated against the former officials of the Ministry of Defense [(MOD)].

According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, they have called from the court the lawyers of the former MOD officials these days, and informed that the decision has been made and the Anti-Corruption Committee will examine the criminal proceedings of former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and other [(MOD)] officials.

The Armed Forces officials under arrest are waiting to see which newly appointed judge the Anti-Corruption Committee will assign the criminal case to.

Let's remind that a criminal case was initiated in the investigative department of the NSS [(National Security Service)] regarding the alleged abuses—in particular, regarding the procurement of low-quality, unusable missiles—in the process of procurement of munitions. Within the framework of the criminal case, seven persons have been charged, including former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, Head of the General Staff of RA Armed Forces Artak Davtyan, former Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Stepan Galstyan, (...) businessman Davit Galstyan, engaged in arms supply. Galstyan, however, is in freedom.
