It's deeply disconcerting that the European Commission / EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency has yet to acknowledge Fly Arna's remarkable accomplishments and extend the privilege of flying to Europe with Armenian registered aircraft. It's worth noting that exemptions have been granted to airlines from other nations, the former head of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia wrote on Facebook.

"Congratulations, Fly Arna, on Attaining the Coveted IOSA Certification! 

Kudos to Fly Arna for achieving the internationally acclaimed IOSA certification – a testament to their unwavering commitment to safety and excellence in aviation. As many may not be aware, this recognition is bestowed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), an esteemed body comprising major global airlines.

A Call to Fairness and Equal Treatment 

However, amidst this celebration, I feel compelled to shed light on a disheartening disparity. It's deeply disconcerting that the European Commission / EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency has yet to acknowledge Fly Arna's remarkable accomplishments and extend the privilege of flying to Europe with Armenian registered aircraft. It's worth noting that exemptions have been granted to airlines from other nations. I passionately call upon the European Commission to uphold the principles of equity and fairness. Armenia, a sovereign nation, deserves equal treatment akin to other countries. Furthermore, Armenia recently signed the Common Aviation Area Agreement. Because of the restrictions that are in place, the agreement is only benefiting European Air carriers.

Having served as the Director General of the Armenian Civil Aviation Authority, I initiated the investment of Air Arabia in Armenia due to its exemplary safety and security track record. This move aimed to foster knowledge exchange and uplift Armenia's aviation landscape, a goal that Fly Arna has continued to realize since its inception.

Beyond Boundaries – Uniting for Safety and Security 

While I understand that state-funded entities like the EU operate within defined constraints and political considerations, I implore us to reconsider leveraging safety and security concerns for political agendas. Such actions jeopardize the aviation industry globally, undermining the very essence of safeguarding travelers. This dire concern will be a focal point in my upcoming address at the esteemed World Aviation Festival in Lisbon next month.

In closing, let us unite around a universal truth – safety and security know no borders. The protocols and methodologies governing aviation should be consistent and equitable across all nations.
