Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response to attacks from the area.

Eyewitnesses said explosions were heard in Gaza City.

“In response to the barrages of rockets launched by Hamas from Gaza at Israel, the IDF is currently striking Hamas targets in Gaza,” IDF said on X, adding it would provide more information soon.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned "the shelling by occupying forces of an Indonesian hospital in the northern Gaza Strip" that killed one staff member and injured others.

Earlier it was reported that Hamas launched missile attacks on Israel. The IDF declared itself “ready for war.”

In turn, the leader of the military wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif, said that the armed group had launched a new military operation against Israel.

In a statement, Deif said 5000 rockets were fired into Israel on Saturday morning, marking the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Israel also reported infiltration of militants from Gaza.
