Today, there are very major reforms in the Armenian army, which are not visible and should not be visible. Armen Khachatryan, an MP from the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, told reporters about this at the NA Wednesday.

"A number of the most important reforms and achievements are not visible and will not be visible in the near future for the [Armenian] society. But believe [me] that they are in progress very actively, they are unprecedented reforms. There have never been such changes in our army. Even by comparing decades, we cannot compare what was done in 1-1.5 years. And there is no need to talk about it. The army is the sector where the more closed and secret, the better," said Khachatryan.

The ruling force MP noted that the Armenian army needs qualified officers with basic education.

"We know that since 2015-2016, our [army] officer corps recruitment process has been quite distorted. Today, it is the officers who introduce culture in the [Armenian] army, who must carry out these tasks. If we don't have a good officer corps, it will be quite difficult to carry out these tasks. Today, our military university trains quite high-quality officers, but it requires at least four years. When that generation enters the army, the situation will change quite a bit," said Armen Khachatryan.
