Armenia’s first e-commerce platform, Telcell Market (www.telcell.market), has launched its operations and is actively participating in the creation of a digitalized and transparent retail environment in Armenia, as the company’s Director Mr. Tigran Karapetyan informed our correspondent.

The marketplace launched its operations in December 2023, it's completely independent, entirely designed and developed using Armenian IT-potential, making it unique in its class. Our work is aimed to support and develop local businesses, as well as to foster stronger international connections. Our marketplace’s functionality and innovative solutions are comparable to leading international e-commerce platforms.

We have developed and implemented a split transaction system fully integrated with local financial operators. This sets us apart from our competitors and enhances the security and efficiency of financial transactions within the platform.

Currently, our company provides its partners with a complete suite of digital tools for registering on the e-commerce platform and selling their products. By registering on www.telcell.market, our partners gain the ability to process credit/debit card transactions without needing to visit a bank. This means that businesses wishing to sell their products while diligently complying with tax laws can register on Telcell.Market without additional investment and receive a complete toolkit to launch their online business.

Beyond technological innovation, Telcell Market is actively participating in the digitalization of the Armenian retail market. We promote the use of electronic tax invoices, contributing to the creation of a digitalized and transparent retail environment in Armenia.

Therefore, we support and enable businesses/sellers who avoid or are not fully proficient in the digital environment to easily and inexpensively transition their business online. This effectively promotes the digitalization of the retail business and reduces the shadow sector of e-commerce.

Telcell.Market is deeply rooted in Armenia, and we are confident that with additional sectoral government support and the necessary state attention, we’ll be able not only compete more effectively but also significantly boost the growth of our country’s IT and FinTech sectors. Specifically, we aim to make Armenia competitive in the e-commerce sector.

In response to the question of what sector trends he sees in Armenia as an IT businessman, he replied that in Armenia, as in the rest of the world, many sectors are moving towards digitalization and many are facing certain challenges, including the high cost of digitalization.

Despite this, to keep up with trends, each sector must improve, and the IT sector, being a dominant branch, should direct all its potential primarily towards self-development and create opportunities to make IT solutions accessible and applicable to other sectors, creating a common modern and accessible toolkit. As a company operating in the IT sector, we have set ourselves the goal of creating a toolkit that will contribute to the development of e-commerce in Armenia and the digitalization of retail business, which is also in line with the vision of the Armenian Government, and will help us withstand potential competition with large non-local players in the region.
