Unprecedented scenes of scandalous talks in the Oval Office occupied the front pages of British newspapers on Saturday, and all publications, were horrified by what happened, The Guardian writes.

Definitions like “disastrous” and “disgusting” were used to describe the meeting, where Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance openly berated Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Guardian edition quoted Donald Trump as saying, “You're playing with World War III,” characterizing the meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents as “disastrous.”

In a separate essay, journalist David Smith wrote that “Trump on Friday witnessed one of the greatest diplomatic disasters in modern history.”

The Daily Mail tabloid called the meeting between the two heads of state “a spectacle that horrified the world,” and wrote that during “the Oval Office scandal, a furious Trump humiliates Zelensky on live TV.”

The Financial Times published an article titled “Zelensky's White House talks derailed in a fit of rage”, which said that a mining deal proposed by Trump remained unsigned.

The Times characterized the evening as “a stir in the Oval Office,” and drew attention to Trump's comment that Zelensky “risks starting World War III.”

The front page published photos from the meeting. The first three shots show the presidents arguing, while the last one shows Trump and Zelensky sitting with their backs turned to each other.

The Independent writes that “Trump ambushed Zelensky,” calling the meeting a “disastrously bad summit.”
