Turkey and Azerbaijan will sign Monday a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of a consortium to build a natural gas pipeline, which will stretch from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz deposit to Europe, via Turkey.

Turkey’s Energy ministry informed that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Turkiye Petrolleri (Turkish Petroleum Corporation), and Turkey’s Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) will be the consortium’s founders.

International petroleum and natural gas companies also could join them in the future.

The memorandum will be signed by Turkish and Azerbaijani ministers of energy, Turkish media reported.
