YEREVAN. – In 2011, Armenia was able to further strengthen its positions with respect to the Karabakh issue, the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Karen Avagyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

“Over the course of the past years, Armenia was able to reach a position that the international organizations and the superpowers accepted and shared the Armenian side’s position. This can be viewed as Armenia’s accomplishment,” the MP stated. 

And speaking about the shortcomings, Avagyan noted that the greatest shortfall was the human losses at the line of contact. “In the future we must prevent these irreparable losses,” he said.    

As per the MP, no predictions need to be made concerning the Karabakh conflict’s settlement process, since the adversary, that is, Azerbaijan, is unpredictable. “[But] One thing is unequivocal: Armenia is confident in its positions. It sees the Karabakh problem’s settlement in the peaceful methods, and within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group,” Karen Avagyan concluded.
