Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has not ruled out a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the US.

Also, according to Fidan, there is a possibility that US President Donald Trump may visit Turkey.

"Work on the calendar of visits of Presidents Erdogan and Trump continues. Our president may visit Washington [DC]. Mr. Trump's visit to Turkey is also possible. Ahead of the visit, they may meet at the NATO summit in The Hague [on June 24 and 25]. They often communicate by phone. The negotiations they conduct are extremely productive," Fidan told Milliyet daily.

After a phone conversation with Trump on May 5, Erdogan had announced that Trump had invited him to the US.

The approximate timeframes of such a trip are not yet known. But Turkish media do not rule out that this visit could take place in June.
