Today’s meeting is of great importance for both sides, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan said at Friday’s expanded-format meeting with visiting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia.

“Armenia is a key partner for Kazakhstan in terms of trade and economic ties,” Tokayev said.

According to him, open relations exist between the two countries, and they are based on mutual trust.

“Our mutual cooperation is close both on regional and international platforms. Our cooperation in trade and economic, cultural-humanitarian, and educational fields is significantly and continuously developing. I want to emphasize that our interstate relations are special, and we have great opportunities to multilaterally develop our cooperation. Today we will sign historic documents, including a document to elevate our relations between the two countries and make [them] strategic,” said the Kazakh president.
