Venezuela's political future will come, but the most important thing now is its stabilization. The US will rule the country, in part, to make use of the economic benefits, according to the New York Post.
Instead of rushing elections in Venezuela, US President Donald Trump said that the priority should be stabilization, as the country is on the verge of collapse. He believes that this will be a win-win situation for both the US and Venezuela.
Given this, the US should rule Venezuela, Trump believes. He added that Washington should do this to make use of the economic benefits, especially the valuable oil.
Regarding the Venezuelan opposition figures, Trump believes that none of them still have the necessary popular support; in particular, the opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina Machado.
At the same time, the US president announced that Machado can win the election only if he supports him.
As is known, in addition to Trump's well-known fight against illegal drug trafficking, for which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro—who was taken prisoner by the US—is accused, the two countries' competition is based on oil fields and land.
