The administration of US President Donald Trump has made four demands to Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, which former president Nicolas Maduro had refused, sources say, Politico reports.

Rodriguez is expected to take measures to prevent illegal drug trafficking and expel agents hostile to Washington, including from Iran and Cuba, from Venezuela.

In addition, Washington is demanding that Rodriguez stop oil supplies to US opponents and support free elections in Venezuela. Ultimately, the Trump administration expects Rodriguez to resign.

No specific deadlines have been set for Rodriguez to fulfill these demands. However, Trump had earlier stated that it was impossible to hold a vote in Venezuela to elect a new president until law and order was established in the country.

Politico recalled that Delcy Rodriguez is a long-time ally of Nicolas Maduro and a supporter of socialist views. However, sources in Washington are confident that she will comply with the US demands.
