It was a rather tough night in Aleppo, although at night there were already some signs of hope, because the Syrian army had made considerable progress in the three regions that were under Kurdish rule. Maria Kaprielian, the spokesperson for the Diocese of Berio of the Armenian Apostolic Church, stated this in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am on Friday, and added that military operations in Aleppo have stopped since the morning.

"At the moment, the sand dunes, artificial borders, checkpoints are being gradually removed, the city's local self-government bodies have already started working. It is planned that on Sunday all state, education institutions will open their doors and resume normal operations, since Friday and Saturday are not working days,” said Kaprielian

“As for the Armenian community [of Aleppo], it only suffered material damage, some houses were damaged. We assume that from now on we will go more peacefully to the national cemetery, which is located in those regions, and we were not able to visit the dead on [Armenian] Christmas [day on Tuesday]. I think that from now on we will not have that problem and life will return to its normal course," Kaprielian noted.

She emphasized that now demining operations need to be started to ensure the safety of residents.

“If they work at this pace, the people will return to their homes very quickly. The ban on leaving the houses has already been lifted, which applied only to those three regions that were a military theater-stage, snipers were stationed. At these hours, life is already back to normal, people are going out to the streets. Armenians who had found refuge in the church have returned to their homes. Everything is in order in the Armenian community, schools will open on Monday,” said the spokesperson for the Armenian Diocese of Berio.
