The Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee of Armenia had taken only two actions, lawyer and human rights activist Aram Vardevanyan wrote on Facebook.

"1) An appeal was filed against the decision to place [Russian Armenian businessman and philanthropist] Samvel Karapetyan under house arrest, submitting a request-demand to detain Samvel Karapetyan without fail, 2) to deny Samvel Karapetyan's petition to visit his father's grave on All Souls' Day.

Our team of lawyers has also filed and will continue to file appeals against the decision to place him under house arrest, but the question arises: when the degrees of intensity of detention and restriction of the rights to house arrest are identical according to the Constitutional Court [of Armenia] and the European Court [of Human Rights]. Moreover, it was applied to Samvel Karapetyan with possible and impossible additional restrictions, how should they had submitted the basis, grounds for the appeal?

The answer is obvious, there are no grounds, there is no basis, but there is an exceptionally obvious illegal, demeaning and right-denying position that Samvel Karapetyan should be detained...:
