China hopes that the Iranian government and people will be able to overcome the current difficulties and maintain national stability, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday.
US President Donald Trump had stated on on Sunday that his administration was considering several very serious options, including possible military action against Iran, following growing reports of unrest in the country, Xinhua reported.
China has always opposed interference in the internal affairs of other countries and is in favor of the sovereignty and security of all countries being fully protected by international law, the spokesperson for the Chinese MFA said at a regular departmental press conference, as she commented on Trump's statements at the request of the media.
Also, Mao spoke out against the use or threat of using force in international relations and called on all parties to do more to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
