US President Donald Trump has announced the forming of a “Board of Peace,” which, he said, will oversee the post-war governance of the Gaza Strip. He wrote about this on Truth Social.
According to the US president, this “Board of Peace” will work closely with the newly appointed Palestinian technocratic government, the national governing committee of Gaza. It will govern the Gaza Strip during the transitional period.
Also, Trump stated that his administration has provided record levels of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip ever since the ceasefire was announced.
He believes that this has created the necessary conditions for moving to the next phase of the peace process.
In addition, the US President stressed the need for the complete demilitarization of Hamas. According to him, with the support of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, a comprehensive agreement is planned, which includes the surrender of all weapons and the dismantling of the Hamas’ tunnel infrastructure.
Furthermore, Trump called on Hamas to immediately fulfill its obligations, including the return of the last remaining bodies of the dead to Israel.
