Iran will not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, officials announced.

Minister of Sport of the Islamic Republic Ahmad Doniamal said the team will not be able to compete at the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, following the killing of their leader Ali Khamenei by the US.

"Given that this corrupt regime killed our leader, under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup," Doniamal said on state television.
