Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday received Magnus Brunner, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, the PM’s office informs.

The premier welcomed Brunner’s visit to Armenia, and highlighted the consistent development of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union (EU). The PM emphasized the fact of the EU’s continued assistance in the effective implementation of democratic reforms in the country, and added that the objective of the Armenian government is to introduce standards in various sectors that will meet EU standards. At the same time, the Head of State expressed satisfaction with the work being carried out on Armenia-EU visa liberalization, and added that visa liberalization will be another important step towards deepening and expanding bilateral relations.

In turn, Magnus Brunner stressed that Armenia is successfully and effectively implementing the Visa Liberalization Action Plan, and expressed hope that Armenia’s consistent steps will lead to the expected results. At the same time, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration once again emphasized the EU’s readiness to provide assistance to promote reforms in Armenia.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the agenda matters of Armenia-EU cooperation, and touched upon some other topics of regional importance.
