Within the framework of the working visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Switzerland, the official opening ceremony of the Armenian resident embassy in Bern took place Thursday, in which Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, also participated, informs the foreign ministry of Armenia.

The national flag of Armenia was raised in front of the embassy, located in the heart of Bern, in the historical part on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the national anthems of Armenia and Switzerland were played, and after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the opening of the embassy was officially announced.

Also, Ararat Mirzoyan and Ignazio Cassis delivered welcoming and congratulatory remarks.

In particular, Mirzoyan stressed that while Armenia’s traditional presence in Geneva has already established a strong political dialogue, the relocation of the bilateral embassy to the Swiss capital is an important step in the development of bilateral relations and symbolizes a joint commitment to continuously strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

And Cassis emphasized, above all, that the Armenian diplomatic presence in the Swiss capital will enable closer cooperation between their institutions and further strengthen relations between Armenia and Switzerland.
