Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday when his convoy was hit by an explosive device, Turkish Milliyet daily reports.

An unknown man threw a bomb at the presidential convoy when the Iranian leader was heading to the city of Hamedan to make an address to the nation.

Several people were wounded, Iranian presidential press service reported. According to some information, the attacker has been detained.
