YEREVAN. – The Investigative Committee of Armenia has received 201 reports on alleged violations during the recent referendum on constitutional amendments, and judicial decisions were made on these reports.

A total of 124 and 77 of these reports refer to the respective assumed infringements that had occurred in capital city Yerevan and in the provinces, respectively.

It was found out, however, that neither reports nor calls regarding violations during the plebiscite were received from 1,839 of the 1,997 election precincts (92.1%) that were open on that day.

As of Sunday, a total of 12 respective criminal cases are launched, the opening of criminal proceedings was rejected in 135 cases, and 49 others are in progress.

But the number of respective reports does not yet indicate the same number of actual offenses.

The referendum on Armenia’s constitutional amendments was conducted on December 6.

And according to the final protocol by the Central Electoral Commission, a total of 63.37 percent of the voters said “yes” to these amendments, whereas 32.36 percent voted “no” in this plebiscite.

Pursuant to the new amendments, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance, and conduct completely proportional parliamentary elections.
