YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Sunday attended and addressed at the European People’s Party (EPP) Foreign Ministers Meeting, which was convened in the Austrian capital city of Vienna, and on the initiative of Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. 

The fight against terrorism and extremism as well as migration issues were on the agenda of the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Nalbandian reflected on the migration flows, and noted that Armenia has given shelter to around 20 thousand refugees from Syria, thus making it the third largest European country, in population ratio, to accept Syrian refugees.

The Armenian FM stressed that when seeking solutions to problems related to migration, first, it is indispensable to address their causes.

Also, he reflected on Armenia-European Union relations, and underscored the bilateral talks that have commenced regarding the development of a new respective legal document. 

In addition, Edward Nalbandian briefed his EPP colleagues on the ongoing efforts, by Armenia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chairs, to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and highlighted that there is no alternative to a pacific settlement of this conflict
