Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the United States lost its neutrality and became "involved" in Middle East negotiations which means the end of Washington's mediation role, RIA Novosti reported quoting Palestinian leader Abbas’s international affairs adviser Nabil Shaath.

According to him, instead of being an honest mediator, Washington completely took the side of Israel. 

At the same time, he noted that Palestine is not against the US participation in the new format of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict settlement, but Washington should not completely subordinate the peace process to itself.
