An elderly woman on Thursday attempted to commit suicide in downtown Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

At around 5։50pm, police officers noticed a woman on fire at Republic Square, the “heart” of Yerevan.

According to shamshyan.com, these officers of the law immediately started extinguishing this fire. Subsequently, they helped transfer this woman to Yerevan Research Center of Radiation Medicine and Burns where the physicians told the police that the patient was unable to give an explanation for her action.

Police have found out that this woman is Rima G., 86, a resident of Kotayk Province, and she had attempted to commit suicide by setting herself on fire.
