The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia (RA) have fulfilled and will continue to fulfill the tasks set before them in terms of ensuring the continuation of the work that started after the 44-day heroic and selfless war to re-evaluate and strengthen the security system of our country and Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)], to neutralize external threats. Artak Davtyan, who has been appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, has noted this in a message.

"The situation was resolved after the well-known statement by the command staff of the Armed Forces, and the existing disagreements were transferred to the legal field.

The RA Armed Forces, having the constitutional status of being a subject to the government and under civilian oversight, will maintain neutrality in political matters, being guided exclusively by the exclusive duty to ensure the defense, security, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders of the Republic of Armenia," the message also reads.

To note, President Armen Sarkissian had not signed the decree appointing Artak Davtyan Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces. But Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday released a statement noting that Davtyan has been appointed to this post by virtue of law.
