Three Turkish construction companies have supplied ISIS with millions of dollars worth of materials used to arm the UAVs, Turkish newspaper Birgün reported, citing a report by the Financial Crime Investigation Board of Turkey (MASAK).

According to a 2021 MASAK report, Altun İnci, Elferah and Mavi Yelken, founded by a Syrian who received Turkish citizenship, Ibrahim Hag Geneid, sold materials to ISIS fighters.

The jihadist organization used the materials to build armed UAVs, according to the report, which details the assets of dozens of people believed by authorities to be linked to ISIS.

ISIS is known for its UAV program and has used drones in Iraq and Syria for general intelligence gathering, as spotters for mortar attacks, and for filming propaganda videos.

ISIS continues to rely on logistics centers inside Turkey to receive its finances, the US Treasury Department said in January 2021.

According to the Ankara Gazetecisi news website, last April Turkey granted citizenship to eight ISIS members whose assets were confiscated in connection with terrorist ties.
