In the defense and border security, the composition of military units, units, military bases, divisions in the Armed Forces of Armenia has been reviewed. This is noted in the report summing up the respective government activities in 2021, Armenpress reported.

Accordingly, work continued on equipping combat positions, improving the living and combat duty, conditions, as well as ensuring the safety of servicemen.

In order to bring the projected level of military threats in line with the level of state defense capability, the probable nature of military actions has been defined, structural changes have been made, new tasks have been set for the troops, and comprehensive security work has been carried out.

The 2021-2025 concept for mobilization preparation and mobilization has been developed.

The construction of border troops’ bases has started in eight villages of Syunik Province, and 50 percent of that work has been completed.

During the previous year, video surveillance systems were installed at military outposts and in important directions.

Permanent deployment sites’ construction, and armament replenishment also continued. The Armenian armed forces have been complemented with helicopters, drones, missiles, artillery, anti-tank systems, communications, engineering, firearms, military topographic equipment, armored vehicles, automobiles, air defense, and artillery radar stations.

Also last year, the National Security Service of Armenia uncovered eight cases of high treason and espionage, and included 26 people as defendants in eight such criminal cases.
