Reaching an agreement on access to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is very close, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency said on France 24 television.

Kiev and Moscow agree that it is necessary to go to Zaporizhzhia within a few days, he said.

Grossi said it is extremely difficult to get to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is why it is necessary to ensure the safety of this mission and determine all its conditions. According to him, the IAEA mission should go to Zaporizhzhia in the next few days.

Earlier, Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya, proposed to permanently station IAEA inspectors at the Zaporizhzhia NPP until control over it is restored.

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev and Rafael Grossi also discussed the upcoming mission and priorities for ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities in Russia and Ukraine.
