The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov received the rank of Colonel General, he announced in his Telegram channel on his birthday.

"I want to share with you another piece of good news. The President of Russia has promoted me to the rank of Colonel General. The decree was issued under the number 709. Vladimir Vladimirovich personally told me about it and congratulated me," he wrote. The order conferring the rank on him has not been made public.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, during their phone conversation, Putin asked him to wish everyone in Chechnya "well-being, luck and success.

As Kommersant reports, Ramzan Kadyrov became a lieutenant general at the end of March. In 2019, the head of Chechnya received the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. In 2009, Ramzan Kadyrov received the rank of Major General of the Interior Ministry. In the summer of 2020, he retained this rank when transferring from the Interior Ministry to the Rosgvardia.
