At Thursday's Cabinet meeting, the government of Armenia decided to appoint Vahan Hakobyan as the new customs attaché under the Armenian embassy in Russia—and for three years.

In the reasoning of the decision, it is stated that this decision is conditioned by the need to have a customs attaché of Armenia in Russia to represent the interests related to the customs sector of Armenia in Russia, and to take urgent measures to resolve the problems related to customs operations at the Upper Lars international automobile checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border.

Prior to this appointment, the customs attaché of Armenia in Russia was Aram Tananyan, who was relieved of this position in June.
