A U.S. general predicts war with China in 2025. In a memo obtained by NBC News, Gen. Mike Minihan, head of the Air Mobility Command, noted.

The Air Mobility Command has about 50,000 troops and about 500 aircraft and is responsible for transportation and refueling.

Minihan noted that because both Taiwan and the U.S. will hold presidential elections in 2024, the U.S. will be distracted and Chinese President Xi Jinping will have the opportunity to move on Taiwan.

He also outlined the goals of the preparations, including the creation of a strengthened, ready, integrated and flexible joint maneuvering group, ready to fight and win.

The signed memorandum is addressed to all Air Mobility Command unit commanders and other Air Force operational commanders and orders a report on all major efforts to prepare for combat with China by Feb. 28.
