“In regards to the large-scale aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh unleashed by the Azerbaijani armed forces on September 19, I sent letters to my international partners with the request to apply urgent sanctions against Azerbaijan to prevent the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan and save thousands of lives.
In response to my letter, Marina Kaljurand, who serves as the Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the South Caucasus, provided a copy of a joint statement from herself and three other European Parliament officials: David McAllister, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Andrey Kovatchev, European Parliament's Standing Rapporteur on Armenia, and Željana Zovko, European Parliament's Standing Rapporteur on Azerbaijan.
In this joint statement, they called on the Council to conduct a comprehensive review of the European Union's relations with Azerbaijan and to explore the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Azerbaijani authorities,” reads his Facebook post.
