First, a number of representatives of the Armenian authorities considered this situation to be political pressure, but a number of other representatives of the Armenian authorities do not think so. This is how Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry, commented on the situation related to the Armenian cargo at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border.

"The second thing which proves that this is not the opinion of the entire country, and especially the entire political establishment of Armenia, is that recently, consultations were held through the Eurasian Economic Commission and within the framework of a dialogue. The relevant departments of Russia and Armenia regarding the issues arising with the Armenian partners in connection with the passage of goods through the Upper Lars multilateral automobile checkpoint, as well as the delivery of Armenian agricultural products.

"The meetings had a substantive and constructive nature, a number of measures were discussed on both sides in order to find mutually acceptable solutions. There are and have been mechanisms that can and should be used in case of problems, as is happening now," Zakharova noted.

"And those representatives [of the Armenian authorities] who believe that political pressure is applied to them should read the Armenian media and think whether the same political pressure is applied to the representatives of Russia through insults, fake news, disinformation, etc. Before blaming others, it is always worth looking in the mirror," concluded the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry.
