YEREVAN. – Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev’s anti-Armenian remarks, at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly session in Baku, had such unacceptable accentuations that it left a very bad impression on Euronest’s European MPs, head of Armenia’s delegation at Euronest and opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party’s National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Vahan Hovhannisyan stated during a press conference on Thursday.

“Some Azerbaijani MPs even apologized for their president,” Hovhannisyan noted.

According to him, the Armenian delegation gave the appropriate response to Azerbaijan’s president. Hovhannisyan also considered it correct that Armenia’s delegation attended the Euronest session in Baku.

In his words, however, they were virtually deprived of the opportunity to get together with the Azerbaijani media, but Vahan Hovhannisyan added that he did have an interview with Xazar TV.

Incidentally, the ARF MP informed that he had come across a positive demeanor among ordinary Azerbaijanis.

“We saw no aggressive conduct. Apparently, there is a man in that country who sows seeds of hatred. I did not see among the Azerbaijani people a desire to die in war,” Vahan Hovhannisyan noted.

In her turn, the Armenian delegation member and the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party MP Naira Zohrabyan stated that the Azerbaijani people are hostages in the hands of Aliyev. She also pointed to European MPs’ uncourageous attitude, as they were condemning Aliyev’s remarks solely during private conversations, but they did not attempt to utter a word from the rostrum.
