KIEV. – “You gave me the opportunity to look in a new way into the ‘oil-genocide’ phrase,” Cossacks representative in Ukraine Oleg Vasilyuk stated after watching the documentary film entitled “Ordinary Genocide: Maragha, 10 April 1992.”

He noted that if an Armenian Genocide Day were to be observed in Ukraine, this would honor the memory of the brotherly Armenian people who have experienced a terrible tragedy.

“I am convinced everyone will join our petition to Ukraine’s authorities, whereby we ask to by law recognize April 24 as Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day,” Vasilyuk said, Analitika.at.ua informs.

To note, a roundtable discussion on the Armenian Genocide was convened in Kiev on April 13, during which the aforementioned documentary was screened.

The event’s discussants also adopted a petition, addressed to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Supreme Rada (parliament) Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn, whereby it is asked that April 24 be recognized as Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day.
