The prolongation of the deployment of the Russian military base in Armenia does not irritate NATO at all, Robert Simmons, NATO's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, told a press conference in Yerevan on September 15.

“I have always said Armenia is a CSTO member and Russia’s military partner. The presence of the Russian base on Armenia’s territory accounts for this factor,” Simmons said, stressing Armenia develops relations with NATO in parallel. “So, no imbalance is observed, moreover NATO is on good terms with Russia as well,” Simmons emphasized.
