The city council of Izyum, Kharkov region, Ukraine, considered and unanimously approved a request by the Head of the Armenian community “Hayastan” Nikolay Adikhanyan. The Council condemned the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and decided to submit a request to the Ukrainian President and to the Supreme Rada of Ukraine for a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide.

It is the third decision of this kind in Ukraine. On May 19, 2005, the Crimean Supreme Rada declared April 24 a day in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide victims. On November 26, 2009, the Goloseyev district council of Kiev condemned the Armenian Genocide.
