It is time for the Azerbaijani opposition forces to realize the seriousness of the situation and, giving up all ambitions, take part in the parliamentary elections as one political force, stated Lala Gajiyeva, Chairwoman of the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan.

Trend News quotes her as saying that “no forecasts can yet be made, everything depends on how active is society.”

“The whole people must be involved in the election process. The recent experience shows that voters are not active,” Gajiyeva said. She is sure that, under the circumstances, the opposition forces must act as one force, which will produce positive results. “We can only reach this aim by putting an end to the disunity between the opposition parties. We must stop talking about large and small parties,” she said.

If the Opposition is split again, there can be no hope for success “We are worming as part of the Azadlyg bloc, which will certainly take part in the parliamentary elections,” she said.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled for this autumn. Last elections were held in November 2005.
