Azerbaijani court turned down the request by imprisoned formed editor of “Yeni Musavat” newspaper Makhal Ismailoglu to receive treatment abroad.

Appeal petition at today’s legal trial was repulsed and sentence by Absheron region court was upheld, Trend News reads.

Criminal action against Ismailoglu was brought under the appeal of his neighbor’s maid. Former editor is under the accusation of the Criminal Code article 128 (intended light bodily harm). Under the court verdict, he was sentenced to 2 years’ conditional imprisonment.

According to Ismailoglu, he intends to seize the court requesting to go abroad for the treatment. The journalist also will appeal from the judgment in the Supreme Court.
