YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received on Wednesday the president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity Kurt Koch.

The Armenian president welcomed the cardinal’s visit to Armenia considering it is one of the best testimonies of reinforcing and developing ties between Armenia and the Vatican.

“Relations between Armenia and Vatican are of great importance and significance. Bilateral historical relations, rich cultural and spiritual heritage, common values oblige us to always maintain relations on a high level and develop them,” Sargsyan said.

The Cardinal Koch stated that Armenia as a country of rich history and serious Christian traditions preserves and develops those traditions.
