Opposition Armenian Heritage party parliament group will either refrain from voting or vote in favor of removing former FM, MP Vartan Oskanian’s parliamentary immunity, when it comes to the issue of including Oskanian in the criminal proceedings as solicited by Attorney General Aghvan Hovsepyan, the leader of the opposition Heritage parliament group Ruben Hakobyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Ruben Hakobyan believes that the vote will be split along the party lines due to the political nature of the issue. The opposition group is expected to discuss the matter on Monday once the written solicitation is formally presented to the parliament.
The fact that Attorney General Hovsepyan’s solicitation had been sent to the parliament on September 27 was confirmed on Friday by his spokesperson Sona Truzyan.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Prosperous Party of Armenia of which Oskanian is a member, had reconvened to discuss and react to the latest developments. However, the only outcome of that meeting seems to be a promise by the PPA to provide the 131 MPs with written evidence of Oskanian’s innocence on Monday.
