YEREVAN. – At the invitation of Czech Senate President Milan Štěch, an Armenian delegation led by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan arrived in the Czech Republic on Monday for a three-day official visit. 

First, the delegation met with Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) City Mayor Petr Kulhánek and Regional Governor Josef Novotný, NA press service informed. The parties discussed the avenues for developing bilateral ties and interregional cooperation. 

During the meeting with Kulhánek, Abrahamyan proposed to either establish partnership relations between Karlovy Vary and Armenia’s City of Jermuk, or to declare them sister cities. Also, the NA Speaker suggested the Mayor to visit Armenia, and Kulhánek agreed to this suggestion.  

During the Armenian delegation’s working meal with Josef Novotný, the parties underscored the cooperation between the regions. Abrahamyan likewise proposed the Karlovy Vary Regional Governor to visit Armenia, specifically, to commence cooperation with Armenia’s Vayots Dzor Region. Novotný, too, agreed Abrahamyan’s suggestion.   

In Karlovy Vary, the Armenian delegation also toured the health resort city’s scenic spots and the mineral water center.
