YEREVAN. – It has become apparent that Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s recent official visit to the Czech Republic was not as “cloudless” as he had assured, Hraparak daily reports.

“In his remarks delivered during his meeting with Czech Senate President [Milan] Štěch, Hovik Abrahamyan twice said ‘Czechoslovakia,’ instead of ‘Czech Republic,’ which offended the Czech. They interrupted the Armenian NA Speaker both times and corrected: not Czechoslovakia, but Czech Republic.

Slovakia is another country, whereas Czechoslovakia does not at all exist anymore. But Hovik Abrahamyan is a man from way back and the country of Czechoslovakia, which existed in the Soviet era, is still fresh in his mind,” Hraparak writes.
