Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, are holding a meeting in Sochi, Russia, with the participation of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Robert Bradtke (USA), Bernard Fassier (France) and Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia), as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk.
The NEWS.am correspondent reports that Yuri Merzlyakov opened the meeting. He thanked the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents for their constructive dialogue, pointing out that the meeting is aimed at drawing the sides closer to each other.
An Armenian-Russian-Azerbaijani presidential meeting has been held in Sochi today. Following the meeting RA Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov pointed out that the sides managed to agree on the preamble to the Madrid document. Without elaborating on the topic, he pointed out that the trilateral negotiations are supposed to help the OSCE MG Co-Chairs.
Later a source close to the negotiators stated that the preamble sets the priority of peoples’ right to self-determination, as well as the imperative of Nagorno-Karabakh’s participation in further negotiations.
