YEREVAN. – The train service resumed Saturday at the bridge that collapsed Thursday in Armenia’s Vardenis city, South Caucasus Railway (SCR) Company Press Secretary Vahe Davtyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, and added that the repair work at the bridge will continue at the same time.  

The SCR has no final conclusion so far as to the cause of the bridge collapse. “Naturally, [the collapse victims] are the employees of our company, their families will receive appropriate support and help, but it is still too early to speak about [paying] compensation,” Davtyan said.   

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the three persons who died and the two others who sustained injuries as a result of the aforementioned bridge collapse are employees of the South Caucasus Railway Company. Nerses Martirosyan, 55, Gagik Avetisyan, 56, and Varuzhan Sargsyan, 56, died, whereas Argam Antonyan, 46, and Robert Hambardzumyan, 57, suffered injuries as a result of Thursday’s collapse. A criminal case is opened on this incident, and on charges of violating the labor protection rules.
