Recruitment and formation of the Armenian Army – is a historical achievement, that became reality under our generation, said RA President Serzh Sargsyan upon the completion of solemnity in his residency on the occasion of the RA Army’s 18th anniversary.

According to him, in the absence of army stateless Armenians paid high price starting medieval years up to 1915, Sumgait, Kirovabad and Baku.

“RA Army is a dignity of Armenian nation. This is what revived all sections of life and in particular the volunteers that had to become a pillar of future regular army. Many of them sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Everlasting glory to them,” Sargsyan stated.

Tears, blood and grim realities of war engendered the Armenian Army that continues to develop, RA President said, adding: “Presently, Armenian Army is an ironclad guarantee that ensures our subsistence and a wake-up call against any adventurism.”

Without combat-ready armed forces currently no balance can be sustained in the region, which is no peace and stability, Sargsyan outlined. The role of Armenian Army is not limited to protection of the state boundaries only. Deepening international integration assumes new diverse issues that are successfully tackled, he emphasized. “Dear soldiers, officers! This day, beyond a public holiday is also your day. Your profession can be called a mission and vocation to decently go on with parade of Armenian historic victories. Your paramount objective is maintenance of state security,” Sargsyan underlined. "Initiator of any provocation should be ready for adequate counterthrust and surprises from Armenian Army. Unconsciousness of this will be at least naivety. For any country the highest achievement is the war prevention, that you “decently do”, RA President said expressing a wish to have eternal peace and stability in our country and the region. “Glory to Armenian Army and viva Republic of Armenia!,” RA President concluded.
